Life Is Always Changing the Rules

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Just how much can a person’s life and lifestyle change? Let me tell you!

When I started this Blog last Fall, I was semi-retired and looking forward to a calm and relaxing period in my life. Then, in January one of my daughters gave birth to our 5th grandchild. What a great day this should have been. However, she could not pass the standard drug test given at the time, so the Department of Children’s Services came in and took over the care of not only this baby; but her other two as well! The baby had to stay under the doctor’s care for an additional week and his two brothers were placed in a safe house. This forced my wife and I to take the DCS to task in court. As a result, we were given the guardianship of all three of the boys, Curtis Jr, Zachary and our newest arrival, Skyler.

Skyler is exactly six (6) months old today and has learned how to crawl just today!

Needless to say, my wife had to quit her job. That meant that I have to come back to rebuild my practice and stay strong in order to raise these youngsters. I am not complaining, mind you as the experience has renewed our strength and vitality. I trust in the Lord not to burden us with any challenge that is too great to bear.

My daughter’s drug of choice happened to be Dilaudid, which I will be writing about shortly in another post. You may want to check out the article as the information is quite startling.

I will be posting here as often as I can find the time. My wife is an early bird and I am a night owl. This works out wonderfully for Skyler and me as I get him on the “second shift”, so to speak.

If you are in the Cookeville, TN area and want an appointment with me, please don’t expect me in the shop much before lunch time as I still have the special running where you make an appointment for an hour session and you get me for 90 minutes for the same price. That means I sometimes don’t get finished till 8:30 some nights.

Further posts will enlarge your knowledge of Reflexology and you will get to know me and how I work. As for retirement, the judge asked me if I ready for this challenge. My response was that I will be 80 when he graduates unless my daughter and her husband can get their act together to reclaim their parental rights. My wife says that retirement is just twice as much husband with half as much money, so I will say that retirement will be when the paramedics come to pick me up whenever I fall.

For now, thank you for joining me and have a great and prosperous day!

What Does It Mean, “After 5″?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Reflexology After 5 is a campaign I started when building my initial fold of clients in the Month of May 2007 in honor of Mother’s Day. My thoughts were of what you could get the best Mother in the world who already has everything she wants. It then occurred to me that time was a valuable commodity and a person could get their Mother a gift certificate for a session with me. If she decided she could come in after 5 O’clock in the evening, I could more easily spend an extra 30 minutes with her at no extra charge. This went over very well and clients were thrilled to have the extra attention.

This arrangement worked out so well with me that I continued the promotion and it grew into an identity I couldn’t escape, even if I wanted. It works because the office where I work has five (5) rooms and there are eight (8) therapists there on a regular basis! You can begin to see the conflicts with scheduling that began to ensue. So, my promotion involved utilizing the room when the traffic was at the lowest point in the day. There are still three of us who choose to work late to accommodate our clients; so, I am still not alone in the building and neither are the other therapists.

Today, the identity is becoming comfortable for me and I am developing the web site to reflect the fact that I am not a morning person and would prefer to spend the time with my clients in the evening hours. This also works out well for those who can stop in after their shifts are over and can then include those that have very irregular hours, such as the Emergency Room nurses with shifts of twelve hours straight ending at 7:00 P. M.

The Grand Opening of the web site and the new promotion coming out in the Herald-Citizen newspaper will feature a coupon which entitles the bearer to an introductory 30-minute session completely on the house. If you live in the area of Middle Tennessee, or if you have relatives here, I will tell you how you can surprise them with this gift. The hint will be to go to the web site by clicking the link on the right and proceed to sign up for my newsletter. On the page that follows will be a replica of that coupon which you can print directly from your computer and either bring it in at your appointed time or mail it to your friend, relative or other loved one to make an appointment with me. By signing up you will also be getting another gift from me which will be in the confirmation link I must send to reassure it was you who signed up and not your neighbor playing a practical joke on you.

Now, for the best part. This coupon is essentially worth the first 30-minutes of my time. So, if you were to extend that time by another 30-minutes, you would have the basis of the requirement of an hour session after 5 and automatically qualify for the special of an additional 30-minutes! Wait a minute! How much does this cost?

My rates are the best in the Upper Cumberlands of $30 for 30-minutes, $50 for an hour and $75 for the full 90-minute session. Now, when you upgrade to the hour from the special I have, the cost is just $20 (for an hour) and you get the full package. In other words, a 90-minute session will only cost that $20 if time allows an extension of the intro offer to an hour. You will find my phone number on each end of the coupon.

Next, I plan to have some new information on how you can extend the relaxation effect from stress until the next time you can get in to see me or your local, friendly Reflexologist. Subscribe to the RSS Feed and I will let you know the moment I post, guaranteed and automatic.

I want to show you a different way to relax!

Stress has been shown to be the underlying cause of up to 85% of so-called “conditions” for which we seek a physicians advice. If we can cut the stress level, it stands to reason we will cut the “conditions” which result.

I am online to help with that. I am a Registered Certified Reflexologist in the State of Tennessee and I am held to a higher authority than in all the other states save North Dakota. Here in Tennessee, we report to the Health Related Board, who is responsible for issuing our license and to whom we report if there are any problems with our practice.

As a general observation, the public is unaware of the term “Reflexology”. If you ask the person on the street about it, they will most likely bring up the technique the doctor uses on your knee or elbow with the rubber hammer to make it jump. Not quite so.

Reflexology is the technique used to stimulate pressure points on the feet and hands which are corresponding to the various organs, glands and body structures, all mapped out on those surfaces. More on that in a later post. When a particular point is stimulated, a reaction is started in the corresponding part of the body. For example, if your shoulder is stiff or sore from over work or an injury, the chances are very high that the corner of your hand or foot at the base of the little finger/toe will also be tender to the touch. I will stimulate that point to relieve the tenderness and the corresponding shoulder will relax. It is time for me to tell you that I am not a doctor and this blog is not meant to replace or disinherit your doctor’s advice; but, to supplement your knowledge. I want you to have an additional alternative to explore in addition to the recommendation of your doctor. My sessions are non-invasive and you never have to disrobe except for shoes, socks and metal jewelry. I have clients who have told me that a session with me is just as relaxing as a full body massage and the resulting momentum will last for up to three days before arriving at a new level of health.

In upcoming posts, I will explain how a session with a qualified Reflexologist can supply you with a source of free drugs which are non addictive and have no side effects! I will explain how stimulating points on the hands and feet accomplish this miracle of healing many conditions that were thought to be hopeless. I will give you the offering of that hope in the knowledge of what a good Reflexologist can and cannot do. I will also be offering some products on the website that I have found and tested to do what they say they do and prolong your peace of mind between sessions.

When my RSS Feed is up and running, you will be able to subscribe to this and get instant notification of new information listed here. In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you will visit me at the website and subscribe to the newsletter and allow me to present you with a gift or two for your trouble.

Thank you for reading, and have a great and prosperous day!
